Recipe of the Month

Chifa
Peruvian Tallarín Saltado Chifa

The Participant Observer Recipe of the Month is for Tallarín Saltado Chifa, a Peruvian-Chinese stir-fry that combines flavors from Asia and South America. It is an extremely common dish offered by street food vendors and restaurants throughout Peru.

CD of the Month

Our International Music of the Month is Karuna by Nawang Khechog.

As one of Tibet's foremost contemporary musicians, Nawang celebrates life each day through the creation of his very personal music, culminating in the release of his first recording on Domo Records, titled Karuna and produced by Kitaro. On Karuna, Nawang makes full use of his newest innovation, the Universal Horn. It's a combination of Tibetan long horn and Australian Aboriginal Didgeridoo. Combining Japanese Taiko drums, Tibetan long horns, cymbals, bells, Indian drums, South American rain sticks, flutes and Tibetan chanting, Nawang shares his experience with ancient sounds and the spirituality of Tibet.—Amazon.

Book of the Month

Our International Book of the Month is Goodnight Tokyo by Atsuhiro Yoshida

On this journey through the labyrinthine streets and hidden corners of one of the world’s most fascinating cities, everybody is searching for something, and maybe searching in the wrong places. Elements of the fantastical and the surreal abound, as they tend to do in the early pre-dawn hours of the morning, yet the settings, the human stories, and each character’s search are all as real as can be.
